Can't say I like this one much.
I'm a selective SCI listener. I like their funky stuff, which they sometimes play enough of and sometimes not. In this case it's too much fake bluegrass.

Emerging Greatness II
Second of a two-night stand in Eugene. This and the previous night are inseparable, I think - together they really demonstrate how the band was moving toward mind-blowing greatness in these smaller-club days. Keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth, though obviously an enormous talent, is only a few months into his time with the band at this point, and hangs back more than he would in the months and years to come. Here he studies his place in the mix, adding color and support rather than exploding with full power.
One great value of this show is to be found in the setlist itself, which is chock full of tunes that have since all but dropped out of rotation (e.g., Howlin' at the Moon, Handsome Molly, The Chicken, Chili Dawg, Nardis, Moonflower). Rendered here in great sound, these shows offer fascinating listening and certainly belong in your collection.
